The Slim Shaggys (92) at Twee Twerps (97)

(MyFantasyLeague.com Fantasy Times Sources – Dec 8, 2008) In a week 14 UFFLE showdown, Twee Twerps squeaked by a tough The Slim Shaggys team by a score of 97 to 92, silencing a partisan crowd of 72,221.

Twee Twerps were led to their 5 point victory by a 21 point effort from Jay Cutler, who got by the Kansas City Chiefs defense for 286 passing yards and 2 passing tds in addition to 16 rushing yards. With this performance, Cutler was the number 6 ranked quarterback for week 14. They also got help from a 17 point effort from Steve Smith, who beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense for 117 receiving yards and 1 receiving td.

“This was a confidence booster,” Twee Twerps coach Bob Filipy said.

The Slim Shaggys were helped out in a losing cause by a 30 point effort from DeAngelo Williams, who tore apart the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense for 186 rushing yards and 2 rushing tds in addition to 6 receiving yards. With this performance, Williams was the number 3 ranked overall fantasy scorer for week 14. They also got help from a 15 point effort from Maurice Jones-Drew, who snuck past the Chicago Bears defense for 55 rushing yards in addition to 47 receiving yards.

“We got a wake-up call,” The Slim Shaggys coach Mark Olson said.

Adding salt to the wound, The Slim Shaggys could have scored 101 points and gotten the win with their best lineup, but Mark Olson left key players like the Indianapolis Colts Defensive Team and his corresponding 15 points on the bench.

The Slim Shaggys drew the short straw with their schedule this week, as their point total would have resulted in a win against 11 out of 12 other potential opponents in week 14.

This brings the record for Twee Twerps to 10-5-1, and drops The Slim Shaggys to a record of 8-5-3.

Coming up in week 15, the 11-4-1 Elvis Impersonators are at Twee Twerps, where Twee Twerps are an early 8.9-point underdog.
