UFFLE Bylaws

The purpose of these bylaws is to (1) ensure a fair and fun league for all owners, (2) ensure the long term viability of the league. If a rule is not explicitly stated, the commissioner will be responsible for interpreting these criteria and new rules will be voted on and subsequently documented in these bylaws.

League Summary

    • 14 teams playing 14 regular season weeks with 3 weeks of playoffs
    • ½ point PPR with decimal scoring
    • The schedule will contain the following matchups
      • Play each division opponent once (6 games)
      • Play every team from the other division once (7 games)
      • Play one game against the other division based on last season’s final seeding (1 game)
        • 1 vs. 2, 3 vs. 4, 5 vs. 6, etc…
  • Six teams will make the playoffs being played in weeks 15, 16, 17 with no games in week 18.
    • The two division winners get a first-round bye
    • The next four best teams regardless of the division will make the playoffs
    • Division winners get the 1 and 2 seeds. The rest of the teams are seeded by the MFL power rankings
    • The highest seed always plays the lowest seed each round of the playoffs
  • 25 roster spots. 20 active, 5 taxi squad, and 5 IR spots
    • Rosters must always contain enough of each position to form a starting lineup
  • 8 starters – 1 QB / 1 RB / 1 WR / 1 TE / 2 Flex / 1 K /1 Def
    • Lineups can be changed up until each player’s game starts
  • Free agents are first come first serve except during the blind bidding period
    • $100 FAAB budget
    • Players are locked after their game starts
    • Each week you can bid on locked players until Tuesday at 12:00 PM central time
    • First come first serve starts again on Tuesdays after the bids are complete
  • The annual 5 round rookie/free-agent draft order will be based on last year’s standings
    • There will be a random drawing for non-playoff teams for the first 6 picks
    • Picks 7-10 will go playoff teams based on record
    • Picks 11-12 will go to the Fantasy Bowl loser and winner
    • The draft will be a regular straight draft
  • League annual fee is $30.

2. Teams, Ownership, and Replacement

2.1 The league will consist of 14 teams in two divisions of seven.

2.1.1 The divisions will be realigned every year based on the previous season’s standings.

2.1.2 North Division will be teams 1,3,5,7,9,11,13. South Division will be teams 2,4,6,8,10,12,14.

2.2 Leaving the league / Team Replacement Process:

2.2.1 If an owner chooses to leave the league, they can (1) hand their team over to a new owner or (2) they can abandon their team and the commissioner, with help of the other owners, will find a replacement owner.

2.2.2. If multiple teams are abandoned, teams will be assigned to new owners by a random draw.

3. Scoring Settings

3.1 Only starters will receive points.

3.2 If a regular season game is tied, it will just be recorded as a tie.

3.3 If a playoff game is tied, the playoff game tie-breaking methods found later in the rules will be used.

3.4 The following is how points are scored:

    • 6 points per touchdown scored.
    • 3 points per touchdown pass.
    • 0.1 points per yard gained rushing or receiving.
    • 0.05 points per yard gained passing.
    • 0.5 points per reception.
    • 3 points per field goal thirty-nine yards or less.
    • 4 points per field goal from forty to forty-nine yards.
    • 5 points per field goal fifty yards or greater.
    • 1 point per extra point kicked.
    • 2 points per two-point conversion running or receiving.
    • 2 points per two-point conversion return.
    • 1 point per two-point conversion passing.
    • 2 points per safety.
    • 1 point per sack, interception, and a fumble recovery.
    • 6 points per defensive shutout.

3.5 From time to time the official stats are adjusted. It rarely affects the outcome of a game, but keep in mind that stats aren’t 100% official until Thursday.

3.6 Lineups will consist of the following: QB/RB/WR/TE/Flex/Flex/K/Def. Flex players may be a RB, WR, or TE.

3.7 MFL will determine player positions and make changes at their discretion.

4. Regular Season and Playoffs

4.1 The season consists of 14 regular season weeks (weeks 1-14) and 3 playoff weeks (weeks 15-17).

4.2 Six teams will make the playoffs, two division winners, and four wildcards.

4.3 The division winners will get the top two seeds and first round byes.

4.4 The next four best teams will make the playoff regardless of their division and will be seeded based on the MFL power rankings.

4.5 Teams are then reseeded each round, with the highest seed always playing the lowest.

5. Tie-breaking Methods

5.1 If at the end of the regular season, two or more teams finish with the same record, the following steps will be used to break the tie:

5.1.1 Divisional Leader

1. Head-to-Head.
2. Best divisional record.
3. Most points scored.
4. Coin toss.

5.1.2 Wild Card

1. Head-to-head (if applicable).
2. Most points scored
3. Coin toss.

5.2 If a regular season game is tied, it just goes down and a tied game.

5.3 If a playoff game is tied the higher seed is given the win.

6. Rosters

6.1 Active roster limits.

6.1.1 During the season the active roster size is 20 players.

6.1.2 During the off-season the roster size limit will be 25 players, with the Taxi Squad and IR spots moving to the active roster.

6.1.3 Roster size will increase to 30 right before the draft to allow room for the 5 new players.

6.1.4 After the draft the roster size will be lowered to 20. You must get your roster down to 20 by making cuts, moving players to the Taxi Squad, or IR before the start of the season.

6.1.3 You must at all times have the proper players on your roster to make a legal lineup.

6.2 IR roster limits.

6.2.1 You may have up to 5 players on IR.

6.2.2 A player must be listed as “Doubtful” or “Out” on the MFL site to be eligible.

6.2.3 Once a player is no longer eligible for IR he must be taken off IR ASAP.

6.2.4 Submitting lineups and roster moves will not be allowed until the rosters are made legal.

6.2.5 At the start of the new league year, all players on IR will be moved to the active roster.

6.2.6 IR is locked from the start of the new league year until the end of the fantasy draft.

6.3 Taxi Squad limits. (the Taxi Squad is like the NFL’s practice squad)

6.3.1 The Taxi Squad may contain up to 5 players.

6.3.2 Only players with less than three years of experience are allowed on the taxi squad.

6.3.3 Once an owner promotes a player from the Taxi Squad, he can’t be demoted back down for 7 weeks (49 days).

6.3.4 A player acquired by trade or free-agent pickup is eligible to be placed on the taxi squad unless he was previously promoted to an active roster less than 49 days prior.

6.3.5 At the start of the new league year all Taxi Squad players will be moved to the active rosters.

6.3.6 The taxi squad can be populated again after the fantasy draft is completed.

7. Taxi Squad Poaching

7.1 You can attempt to poach a player from another team’s taxi squad up to 5 times a season.

7.1.1 To initiate the poaching attempt, email the commish your intent.

7.1.2 The commish will then email your intent to the other team. That team will then have 48 hours from that email to either move their player to their active roster or accept the poach and receive the compensatory pick(s) for that player.

7.1.3 To poach a player from another team’s Taxi Squad, you must have the required draft pick(s) to send as a compensatory pick.

7.1.4 Compensatory picks will be based on the original draft position of the player. Compensatory picks will be one pick higher than that player was drafted. With a first-round pick being a 1st and 2nd-round pick, and free agents being a 5th-round pick.

8. Free Agency and FAAB (Blind Bidding)

8.1 After each weekend of games there will be a blind bidding process to pick up free-agents.

8.1.1 Each owner starts with $100 to spend on free agents. Bids are done in whole dollar amounts and the minimum bid is $0.

8.1.2 Every player is locked at the kickoff of their game and they can’t be picked up until the blind bidding window is closed.

8.1.3 The blind bidding window starts at kickoff of the first game on Sunday and goes until 12:00 PM central time on Tuesday.

7.1.4 Players will be awarded to the highest bidder. If there is a tie, the player goes to the team with the worst record, if records are tied the player goes to the team with the least amount of points scored.

8.1.5 From 12:00 PM central time on Tuesday until kickoff of Sunday’s games, free agents are first-come, first serve.

9. Waiver Wire

9.1 Free agents are able to be picked up anytime outside of the blind bidding window.

9.2 Dropped players are locked for 24 hours.

9.3 Players picked up must remain on their team’s roster for at least 48 hours.

10. Trades

10.1 Trades are allowed from the start of the new season, which is the Monday after the NFL draft, to the trade deadline, which is the Sunday kickoff of week 12.

10.2 Trades may include players, future draft picks up to two years, and blind bidding money.

10.3 Trades must be performed on the MFL site.

10.4 All trades must be approved by the commissioner. Only extremely obvious bad trades will be denied. Any trade-back trades will be denied. Trade backs or “rentals” are collusion and not allowed.

11. Annual Draft

11.1 Every August there will be a five-round rookie/free agent draft.

11.2 This will be a normal straight draft, not a serpentine draft.

11.3 Draft order will be determined as follows:

11.3.1 The first eight picks will be decided by a random drawing from the teams that missed the playoffs the previous season.

11.3.2 The next four picks will be the lowest to highest-seeded playoff teams.

11.3.3 The last two picks will go to the Fantasy Bowl loser and winner.

11.4 The draft will be online on the MFL site with a 3-minute timer.

11.4.1 If time runs out you will be skipped, but you can tell the commish who you want and that play will be given to you.

12. Division Realignment

12.1 To help keep parity and evenly balanced divisions, the divisions will be realigned each year based on the previous season’s standings. MFL’s “Power Rank” will be used to determine seeding.

12.1.1 North Division gets the odd number seeded teams.

12.1.2 South Division gets the even number seeded teams.

13. Fees and Payouts

13.1 Annual fee is $30.

13.2 Fees can be sent to the commissioner via PayPal at paypal.me/masonmannie or Venmo @MasonMannie

13.3 League payouts are the following

      • $80 for MFL fees
      • $170 to Fantasy Bowl winner
      • $68 to Fantasy Bowl loser
      • $51 to division winners

14.3 Each season’s MFL site can be easily found by putting the year before UFFLE.com. For example, 2021.uffle.com is the 2021 season’s site.
