Playoffs

The playoffs are set. Squishy Fuzz got the first seed. Elvis Impersonators got the second seed. They both get a first round bye.

The third seed Twee Twerps will play the sixth seed The Slim Shaggys, and the fourth seed San Quentin Saints will play the Fifth seed Z-Squad.

Next week the Squishy Fuzz will play the lowest seed team to advance, and the Elvis Impersonators will play the highest seed team to advance.

Playoff Picture

The current playoff picture is pretty clear now.

Four teams are left to battle for the last playoff spot. If The Slim Shaggys win they get it. If they lose and The Undergarments win, then The Undergarments are in. If The Slim Shaggys and The Undergarments both lose, and the Greasy Weasels win, then the Greasy Weasels are in. If The Slim Shaggys, The Undergarments, and Greasy Weasels all lose, and The Wondrful Gazonks win, then The Wondrful Gazonks are in. If all four teams lose, then The Slim Shaggys make it.

The Squishy Fuzz have locked up the number one seed and a first round bye.

Elvis Impersonators will get the second seed and first round bye with a win, or Twee Twerps loss.

Twee Twerps will win the division with a win, or Z-Squad loss. They will get the second seed and a first round bye with a win and an Elvis Impersonators loss.

Z-Squad have clinched a wild card spot, but could win the division with a win and a Twee Twerps loss.

Tie-Breaking Rules Change

I have used my Commissioner powers to change the tie-breaking method for playoff games, since we really do need a tie-breaker in the playoffs, and I think the decimal system is the most fair first playoff tie-breaker. Here is what the current tie-breaking method for playoff games:

If a playoff game is tied the following steps will be used to break the tie:

1. Recalculate score using a decimal system. 0.1 pts. per yard rushing and receiving, 0.05 pts. per yard passing.
2. Most touchdowns scored among all starting players (including K and Defense).
3. Most field goals.
4. Most extra points.
5. Coin toss.

I also think we should have a league vote for installing a tie-breaking system to regular season games next season. The way I see it we have three options, leave it alone and have no tie-beakers, just use step one and have a rare tie from time to time, or use all the steps and never have a tie.

Instead of voting for all three options and possible splitting the votes of people who want a tie-breaker between the two tie-breaking options, we will just vote whether or not to have a tie-breaker this week, and then next week vote on what tie-breaker method if necessary.

After this post I will put up a poll, so go and vote!

Website Changes

You many notice some changes to the MFL website today. It was brought to my attention that an owner was missing the old “Top 10” report. I added tabs to the MFL site to allow me to add more content, yet keep it looking clean. I hope you all like the changes. If you have any other ideas, let me know. I am always open to suggestions.

**Update** I have added a little script on the “Playoffs” tab that figures out the playoff teams as of right now. You have to click on the link to show the playoff tables in order to prevent longer load times for the entire site.

**Update** I posted on the message board all the updates that I made to the site. I hope you like them all.

GameDay Software

If you have used the GameDay software in the past you will need to either download the newest version, or update your current version in the options menu.

If you have never used the GameDay software, you can download it here. It provides faster live scoring updates, and many different ways to look at the stats.

UFFLE Mobile

I might have mentioned it in the past, but probably don’t mention it enough. I have set it up so you can access the MFL mobile pages on your mobile device just by going http://m.uffle.com. From your phone you can check the standings, live scoring, and submit your lineups.

New Season Updates

The league fees are again $25 and are due before Sunday, September 7th.

The accounting page on the MFL site was kind of hard to keep up to date, so a created a spreadsheet to keep track of all the money. It will be updated weekly. There is a link in the sidebar, or you can check it out here.

I have also added keeper status to the rosters on the MFL site. The number after the K is the amount of times that player has been kept.
