Elvis Impersonators were led to their 1 point victory by a 22 point effort from Philip Rivers, who beat the Minnesota Vikings defense for 335 passing yards and 2 passing TDs. They also got help from a 13 point effort from Robbie Gould, who snuck past the Atlanta Falcons defense for 3 field goals made and 3 extra points.
“You dream about this as a kid,” Elvis Impersonators coach Brandon Mannie said.
Vinny’s Gang were helped out in a losing cause by a 25 point effort from LeSean McCoy, who beat the St. Louis Rams defense for 122 rushing yards and 1 rushing TD in addition to 15 receiving yards. With this performance, McCoy was the number 3 ranked running back for week 1. They also got help from a 15 point effort from Miles Austin, who got by the New York Jets defense for 90 receiving yards and 1 receiving TD.
“We weren’t mentally prepared,” Vinny’s Gang coach Jon Steffan said.
Causing further embarrassment, Vinnys Gang could have scored 116 points and earned the win with their best lineup, but Jon Steffan left key players like Matthew Stafford and his corresponding 24 points on the bench.
This brings the record for Elvis Impersonators to 1-0, and drops Vinny’s Gang to a record of 0-1.
