Vinny’s Gang were led to their 3 point victory by a 22 point effort from Julio Jones, who beat the Kansas City Chiefs defense for 108 receiving yards and 2 receiving TDs. With this performance, Jones was the number 2 ranked wide receiver for week 1. They also got help from a 20 point effort from Matthew Stafford, who tore apart the St. Louis Rams defense for 355 passing yards and 1 passing TD.
“It feels great to be world champions,” Vinny’s Gang coach Jon Steffan said.
Elvis Impersonators were helped out in a losing cause by a 19 point effort from Arian Foster, who got by the Miami Dolphins defense for 79 rushing yards and 2 rushing TDs. They also got help from a 18 point effort from Matt Forte, who got by the Indianapolis Colts defense for 80 rushing yards and 1 rushing TD in addition to 40 receiving yards.
“We didn’t maintain the intensity for the entire 60 minutes,” Elvis Impersonators coach Brandon Mannie said.
Adding salt to the wound, Elvis Impersonators could have scored 106 points and earned the win with their best lineup, but Brandon Mannie left key players like Joe Flacco and his corresponding 20 points on the bench.
Elvis Impersonators drew the short straw with their schedule this week, as their point total would have resulted in a win against 10 out of 12 other potential opponents in week 1.
This brings the record for Vinny’s Gang to 1-0, and drops Elvis Impersonators to a record of 0-1.
