The Wondrful Gazonks were led to their 6 point victory by a 24 point effort from Ben Roethlisberger, who got by the Washington Redskins defense for 300 passing yards and 3 passing TDs. With this performance, Roethlisberger was the number 6 ranked quarterback for week 1. They also got help from a 17 point effort from Dan Bailey, who beat the New York Giants defense for 4 field goals made and 1 extra point.
“This was a good win for us,” The Wondrful Gazonks coach Josh Vadnais said.
October Hunters were helped out in a losing cause by a 20 point effort from Larry Fitzgerald, who got by the New England Patriots defense for 81 receiving yards and 2 receiving TDs. With this performance, Fitzgerald was the number 5 ranked wide receiver for week 1. They also got help from a 16 point effort from Kirk Cousins, who beat the Pittsburgh Steelers defense for 329 passing yards in addition to 8 rushing yards.
“My hat’s off to them,” October Hunters coach Orion Bell said.
Causing further embarrassment, October Hunters could have scored 99 points and earned the win with their best lineup, but Orion Bell left key players like C.J. Anderson and his corresponding 25 points on the bench.
The Wondrful Gazonks took advantage of their schedule this week, as their point total would have gone for a loss against 9 out of 12 other potential opponents in week 1.
This brings the record for The Wondrful Gazonks to 1-0, and drops October Hunters to a record of 0-1.
