Greasy Weasels were led to their 4.20 point victory by a 25.30 point effort from Caleb Williams, who got by the Minnesota Vikings defense for 210 passing yards and 1 passing TD in addition to 58 rushing yards. They also got help from a 19.00 point effort from Garrett Wilson, who got by the Pittsburgh Steelers defense for 95 receiving yards and 1 receiving TD.
“This team shows a lot of heart,” Greasy Weasels coach Mason Mannie said.
October Hunters were helped out in a losing cause by a 18.70 point effort from James Cook, who snuck past the Baltimore Ravens defense for 44 rushing yards and 1 rushing TD in addition to 58 receiving yards. With this performance, Cook was the number 4 ranked running back for week 1. They also got help from a 13.80 point effort from J.K. Dobbins, who snuck past the Tennessee Titans defense for 63 rushing yards and 1 rushing TD in addition to 5 receiving yards.
“We didn’t get the big breaks today,” October Hunters coach Orion Bell said.
Compounding the issue, October Hunters could have scored 115.45 points and earned the win with their best lineup, but Orion Bell left key players like Quentin Johnston and his corresponding 22.40 points on the bench.
This brings the record for Greasy Weasels to 1-0, and drops October Hunters to a record of 0-1.
