Vinny’s Gang Win Fantasy Bowl XVII


Congratulations to Vinny’s Gang and Fantasy Bowl XVII MVP Adrian Peterson for winning Fantasy Bowl XVII and taking home the Bill Winkenbach Trophy this year. It was the second Fantasy Bowl victory for Vinny’s Gang in three tries.

Z-Squad dominated the South Division this year, but just came up short in the Fantasy Bowl. It was their first Fantasy Bowl loss. They won their previous two Fantasy Bowl games.

Vinny’s Gang were led to their 3 point victory by a 18 point effort from Adrian Peterson, who beat the Philadelphia Eagles defense for 118 rushing yards and 1 rushing TD in addition to 11 receiving yards. With this performance, Peterson was the number 6 ranked running back for week 16. They also got help from a 17 point effort from Miles Austin, who beat the Arizona Cardinals defense for 115 receiving yards and 1 receiving TD in addition to 6 rushing yards.

We knew what we had to do and went out and did it,” Vinny’s Gang coach Jon Steffan said.

Z-Squad were helped out in a losing cause by a 28 point effort from Michael Vick, who got by the Minnesota Vikings defense for 263 passing yards and 1 passing TD in addition to 63 rushing yards. With this performance, Vick was the number 3 ranked overall fantasy scorer for week 16. They also got help from a 21 point effort from Dwayne Bowe, who beat the Tennessee Titans defense for 153 receiving yards and 1 receiving TD.

We had our chances but we let them slip away,” Z-Squad coach Michael Grosz said.

Causing further embarrassment, Z-Squad could have scored 103 points and earned the win with their best lineup, but Michael Grosz left key players like John Kuhn and his corresponding 20 points on the bench.
