Z-Squad were led to their 3 point victory by a 22 point effort from Frank Gore, who beat the Detroit Lions defense for 130 rushing yards and 1 rushing td in addition to 32 receiving yards. With this performance, Gore was the number 5 ranked running back for week 3. They also got help from a 10 point effort from Matt Prater, who snuck past the New Orleans Saints defense for 2 field goals made and 4 extra points.
“We knew we had to defend our home turf,” Z-Squad coach Michael Grosz said.
The Slim Shaggys were helped out in a losing cause by a 21 point effort from Maurice Jones-Drew, who beat the Indianapolis Colts defense for 107 rushing yards and 1 rushing td in addition to 59 receiving yards. They also got help from a 13 point effort from Clinton Portis, who snuck past the Arizona Cardinals defense for 68 rushing yards and 1 rushing td in addition to 19 receiving yards.
“They ate our lunch,” The Slim Shaggys coach Mark Olson said.
Causing further embarrassment, The Slim Shaggys could have scored 74 points and gotten the win with their best lineup, but Mark Olson left key players like Jabar Gaffney and his corresponding 11 points on the bench.
This brings the record for Z-Squad to 2-0-2, and drops The Slim Shaggys to a record of 0-3-1.
Coming up in week 4, the 4-0 Squishy Fuzz are at The Slim Shaggys, where The Slim Shaggys are an early 38.8-point underdog, while Z-Squad are at the 1-3 Bad Attitudes, where Bad Attitudes are an early 28.8-point underdog.
