Vinny’s Gang were led to their 18 point victory by a 19 point effort from Adrian Peterson, who beat the Houston Texans defense for 139 rushing yards and 1 rushing td. With this performance, Peterson was the number 2 ranked running back for week 9. They also got help from a 14 point effort from Chad Pennington, who got by the Denver Broncos defense for 281 passing yards.
“We came to play,” Vinny’s Gang coach Jon Steffan said.
The Hellfish were helped out in a losing cause by a 14 point effort from the New York Jets Defensive Team. With this performance, the Jets was the number 1 ranked defensive team for week 9. They also got help from a 9 point effort from Kevin Boss, who snuck past the Dallas Cowboys defense for 30 receiving yards and 1 receiving td.
“It just wasn’t meant to be,” The Hellfish coach Wade Iverson said.
Compounding the issue, The Hellfish could have scored 89 points and gotten the win with their best lineup, but Wade Iverson left key players like Donald Driver and his corresponding 19 points on the bench.
This brings the record for Vinny’s Gang to 3-6-1, and drops The Hellfish to a record of 2-8.
