(MyFantasyLeague.com Fantasy Times Sources – Sep 11, 2018) In a week 1 UFFLE intra-divisional showdown, Vinny’s Gang squeaked by a tough The Slim Shaggys team by a score of 121 to 117, behind the support of 74,715 faithful fans.
Vinny’s Gang were led to their 4 point victory by a 34 point effort from Tyreek Hill, who beat the Los Angeles Chargers defense for 169 receiving yards and 2 receiving TDs in addition to 4 rushing yards. With this performance, Hill was the number 2 ranked overall fantasy scorer for week 1. They also got help from a 33 point effort from Alvin Kamara, who snuck past the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense for 29 rushing yards and 2 rushing TDs in addition to 112 receiving yards.
“This team always seems to find a way to win,” Vinny’s Gang coach Jon Steffan said.
The Slim Shaggys were helped out in a losing cause by a 31 point effort from Drew Brees, who tore apart the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense for 439 passing yards and 3 passing TDs. With this performance, Brees was the number 4 ranked overall fantasy scorer for week 1. They also got help from a 20 point effort from Mike Evans, who beat the New Orleans Saints defense for 147 receiving yards and 1 receiving TD.
“We got a wake-up call,” The Slim Shaggys coach Mark Olson said.
Compounding the issue, The Slim Shaggys could have scored 132 points and earned the win with their best lineup, but Mark Olson left key players like Randall Cobb and his corresponding 20 points on the bench.
The Slim Shaggys drew the short straw with their schedule this week, as their point total would have resulted in a win against 10 out of 11 other potential opponents in week 1.
This brings the record for Vinny’s Gang to 1-0, and drops The Slim Shaggys to a record of 0-1.
Coming up in week 2, The Slim Shaggys are at the 0-1 The Undergarments, where The Undergarments are an early 37.0-point underdog, while the 1-0 October Hunters are at Vinny’s Gang, where Vinny’s Gang are an early 34-point favorite.
