Vinny’s Gang were led to their 1 point victory by a 20 point effort from Frank Gore, who got by the Arizona Cardinals defense for 96 rushing yards and 1 rushing td in addition to 55 receiving yards. With this performance, Gore was the number 6 ranked running back for week 1. They also got help from a 20 point effort from Aaron Rodgers, who snuck past the Minnesota Vikings defense for 178 passing yards and 1 passing td in addition to 35 rushing yards.
“Our fans were the 12th man today,” Vinny’s Gang coach Jon Steffan said.
Greasy Weasels were helped out in a losing cause by a 19 point effort from Jon Kitna, who got by the Atlanta Falcons defense for 262 passing yards and 2 passing tds. With this performance, Kitna was the number 5 ranked quarterback for week 1. They also got help from a 11 point effort from Earnest Graham, who got by the New Orleans Saints defense for 91 rushing yards in addition to 27 receiving yards.
“We weren’t mentally prepared,” Greasy Weasels coach Mason Mannie said.
Causing further embarrassment, Greasy Weasels could have scored 84 points and gotten the win with their best lineup, but Mason Mannie left key players like Chris Johnson and his corresponding 18 points on the bench.
This brings the record for Vinny’s Gang to 1-0, and drops Greasy Weasels to a record of 0-1.
Coming up in week 2, the 0-1 The Hellfish are at Greasy Weasels, where Greasy Weasels are an early 18-point favorite, while the 1-0 Squishy Fuzz are at Vinny’s Gang, where Vinny’s Gang are an early 30.0-point underdog.
