Elvis Impersonators were led to their 8 point victory by a 24 point effort from Christian McCaffrey, who beat the Arizona Cardinals defense for 153 rushing yards and 1 rushing TD in addition to 35 receiving yards. With this performance, McCaffrey was the number 4 ranked running back for week 3. They also got help from a 20 point effort from Josh Allen, who got by the Cincinnati Bengals defense for 243 passing yards and 1 passing TD in addition to 46 rushing yards.
“We proved we’re the better team,” Elvis Impersonators coach Brandon Mannie said.
The Slim Shaggys were helped out in a losing cause by a 27 point effort from Patrick Mahomes, who tore apart the Baltimore Ravens defense for 374 passing yards and 3 passing TDs in addition to 9 rushing yards. With this performance, Mahomes was the number 4 ranked quarterback for week 3. They also got help from a 18 point effort from Austin Hooper, who snuck past the Indianapolis Colts defense for 66 receiving yards and 2 receiving TDs.
“We only have to look in the mirror,” The Slim Shaggys coach Mark Olson said.
Adding salt to the wound, The Slim Shaggys could have scored 102 points and earned the win with their best lineup, but Mark Olson left key players like Marvin Jones and his corresponding 16 points on the bench.
The Slim Shaggys drew the short straw with their schedule this week, as their point total would have resulted in a win against 8 out of 10 other potential opponents in week 3.
This brings the record for Elvis Impersonators to 3-0, and drops The Slim Shaggys to a record of 2-1.
Coming up in week 4, Elvis Impersonators are at the 0-3 The Hellfish, where The Hellfish are an early 28.3-point underdog, while The Slim Shaggys are at the 0-3 Squishy Fuzz, where Squishy Fuzz are an early 15.9-point underdog.
